View this email in your browser TL;DR What We’ve Done Understanding that voting in November in numbers that cannot be ignored is one way we can protect democracy we focused our attention in August on learning about a variety of ways we can help strengthen our voices with our votes.   What We’re Up to Next It’s STILL all about voting and registering folks to vote. Instead of a regular meeting this month, we’re hosting a Postcard Party — come celebrate democracy and enjoy camaraderie, music, snacks and libations while we write postcards urging like-minded sometime-voters to be sure to vote this time. Come join the fun! Details below.

Taking It Up to Party Level! If you’re anything like us, the troubled times we’re in can feel a bit heavy. And while we don’t ever want to deny the gravity of what’s happening, we also know that a good party can be balm for the soul. And so can collective action. So we’re gonna do just that: come together in community to write, decorate, address, and stamp postcards encouraging voters to vote.  We’ll supply the postcards, music, snacks, and drinks.  You bring pens, markers, highlighters! Bring stickers and stamps! Bring a friend or two. Bring a snack or beverage to share, if you’d like.  Or just show up. The door’s open and we’ll have plenty of all the above to share.  Don’t want to write postcards but feel like hanging out with like-minded folks? Come on by and see what we’re all about.  When: Monday, Sept 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 (come for both hours, or for 15 minutes— we’re happy to have you for as long or little as you can be there!) Join us Sunday 9/13  from 2:00 to 4:00 to meet, converse, and learn what’s going on in the Sacramento Democrat community.  Don’t be shy— it’s a friendly bunch :-)
