Republican Tax Plan

House Republicans released a tax plan that is a terrible deal for middle-class families and students. They want to rush it through Congress next week, and they want you to pay for it.

The plan is an enormous tax giveaway to corporations and wealthy individuals like Betsy DeVos, and it is funded on the backs of students and  hardworking, middle-class people like you. I'm sure you won't be  surprised to hear that DeVos has publicly praised the plan.

If Betsy DeVos thinks it is a good plan, then you know something is wrong with it.

The House Republicans' tax plan is a massive tax break for the wealthy that makes middle-class families and students foot the bill. Here's how:
  1. Eliminating local and state tax deductions that will lead to cuts to public schools, educator job loss, and overcrowded classrooms.
  2. Eliminating the (already meager) $250 tax deduction that educators use for out-of-pocket for school supplies!
  3. Creating a national voucher scheme that steals funding from our public schools. DeVos called it a, "a good start."Most importantly, it does NOTHING to help our students.
I'm telling you, this tax plan is a gift for the wealthy like Betsy DeVos, and it will hurt our schools and students, especially those in under-resourced communities. It's unconscionable.

Thank you for taking action at this crucial moment.
