Schools and the American Rescue Plan

 

The Biden Initiative  The American Rescue Plan includes funds to:

• accelerate the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines across the country and increase testing capacity;

• modify spaces to comply with social distancing;

• hire more teachers, paraeducators, school custodians, bus drivers, nurses, and counselors;

• modernize HVAC systems and improve ventilation;

• add supports to address student trauma;

• support early education programs; and

• help educators and students access the internet and devices necessary for distance and hybrid learning.

The vote in the Senate is expected to be very, very close. Urge your senators to pass the American Rescue plan with $170 billion for education.   America’s educators, families, and communities have been coming together to demand this kind of help for nearly a year now. We have united across race and across place to stand up for our students.   With a new Congress and a new president, we are on the cusp of getting the kind of resources we need.   In solidarity, Becky Pringle President National Education Association
